This is an easy dinner recipe that the whole family will love.

How To Make Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

  • Sautรฉ chopped green bell pepper and yellow onion in a skillet with olive oil until the veggies are soft.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for a minute.
  • Remove from the heat and let the veggies cool.

  • In a large mixing bowl, add lean ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, an egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and dried parsley.
  • Add the cooked and cooled peppers and onions.
  • Mix to combine.

  • Chop four ounces of mozzarella cheese into ½ inch cubes.
  • Add the cheese to the meatloaf mixture.
  • Mix to combine.

  • Transfer the meatloaf mixture to a 9×13″ baking dish.
  • Press and pat the meat into an even loaf form.
  • Add ketchup to the top of the meatloaf and spread it out evenly.

  • Bake at 350ยฐF for 55 minutes.
  • Let the meatloaf cool for ten minutes before slicing (this prevents it from falling apart).

How To Store

Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Or, store it in the freezer for up to three months. Transfer the container to the refrigerator to thaw the day before you want to reheat it.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 lb. 93% lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup 2% milk
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried parsley leaves
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 oz. mozzarella cheese chopped into ½ inch cubes

For Topping

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350ยฐF.
  • Add olive oil to a skillet and place it over medium-high heat. Add the onion and bell pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-6 minutes, until the veggies are soft.
  • Add the garlic to the skillet. Cook, for one minute, stirring often. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the egg. Scramble it with a fork.
  • Add the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, dried parsley, and pepper to the bowl.
  • Once the sautรฉed veggies are cool enough to touch, add them to the meatloaf mixture.
  • Use your hands to mix and mash the meatloaf mixture together until it is well combined.
  • Add the cubed cheese to the meatloaf. Mix until well imcorporated.
  • Transfer the meat mixture to a 9×13" baking dish. Press and pat the meat into an even loaf form.
  • Top the meatloaf with the ketchup. Spread it out evenly over the top and sides.
  • Bake for 55 mintues.
  • Let the meatloaf cool for 10 minutes before slicing into 10 equal pieces.
